Willie Nelson recently held a grand celebration for his 90th birthday at the Hollywood Bowl. The two-night celebration featured a back-to-back tribute performed by the biggest names in rock and alternative music. The sold-out event also featured a performance from Nelson as he joined Neil Young, George Strait, and Snoop Dogg on stage. Nelson’s son Micah whose stage name is Particle Kid, made a speech and thanked everyone for joining the unforgettable celebration. Particle Kid will also appear in select cities at the Outlaw Music Festival this 2023.
Nelson has been a significant force in country rock music since emerging in the ‘50s. Then he released numerous hits spawned from his 99 studio albums. The illustrious rocker’s six-decade career has resulted in countless number-1 songs and over 40 million records sold in the U.S. Moreover, his exemplary work has brought in a plethora of accolades, including 15 Grammy Awards, ten Country Music Association Awards, eight American Music Awards, and many more.
Indie folk rock powerhouse The Avett Brothers is a Grammy-nominated band from North Carolina. The quartet, led by brothers Seth and Scott Avett, made their breakthrough in 2009 with their major label debut, I and Love and You. The album peaked at number 16 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Folk Albums chart. In 2016, they released their highest charting effort, True Sadness, peaking at number 3 on Billboard 200 and topping the Top Rock and Folk Album charts.
In 2019, the band dropped their latest album, Closer Than Together, which entered three Billboard charts. The following year, they released their fourth EP, The Third Gleam.
Progressive rock band Gov’t Mule is a project by The Allman Brothers members Warren Haynes and Allen Woody. They released their self-titled debut album in 1995 and started touring across the U.S. Soon, the band became a festival favorite, thanks to its eclectic sound. This 2023, Gov’t Mule paid tribute to Pink Floyd’s iconic album, Dark Side of the Moon, with a Tour special tribute tour. The Dark Side of the Mule covered over ten dates across North America, and the band performed the album in its entirety.
Sensational singer-songwriter and radio host Elizabeth Cook joins the Outlaw Music Festival line-up this 2023. Cook will be delivering hits from her career-spanning albums, including her latest effort, Aftermath, which was released in 2020.
